Semi-trucks are large, intimidating and travel at significant speeds across the road in Alabama and throughout the nation. While most drivers will adhere to the rules of the road and operate their rigs safely, there are often accidents that cause injuries and fatalities. Insurance is a critical need for companies and most are covered for any eventuality. Still, when there is a crash and a lawsuit is filed, a company will frequently need to have a legal firm that is experienced in assisting insurance companies with lodging a defense after an accident.

An afternoon crash between two semis led to the death of one driver and serious injuries to the other. At around 1:30 p.m. a 58-year-old man was driving one of the trucks and was heading north. Another truck heading south went over the median and crashed into the first truck. The driver suffered catastrophic injuries and was declared dead at the site of the accident. The other driver was hospitalized. After the collision, the trucks caught fire. According to the investigation, the truck that went into the opposite lanes had a blowout of one of its tires. The investigation is continuing.

With a fatal accident involving a truck or two or more trucks, a legal filing is all-but inevitable. While the family left behind has the right to seek compensation, it is imperative for the companies who are involved to be protected. That is what insurance is for. However, when there are claims regarding the circumstances, the fault should lie where it belongs. If, for example, there was an issue with construction of a part of the truck, then this could be a key point in the defense and the right party should be held responsible. Companies dealing with these legal cases must have a strong defense to assess the case and shield them.

A collision between two semis led to the death of one driver and severe injuries to the other. Because the investigation indicates that the second truck went into the wrong lanes because of a blowout, the case could be a matter of a faulty tire. There could have been an error made by a mechanic or it might even have been the responsibility of a manufacturer. With a case involving a truck fatality, the companies who are named in a possible lawsuit must remember the importance of legal help with their insurance defense. Calling a law firm experienced in these cases is critical.
